Scotland's historic capital is full of narrow streets and parking restrictions. So, to quicken your departure, we only pick-up from one central departure point. Getting out the city is always via the most direct arterial route to minimise the carbon footprint.
Nowadays Central Edinburgh is expensive for short-stay parking. The city has excellent public transport links and if you need a little guidance on which to use please check out the Transport for Edinburgh website
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we are unable to wait if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies. 100% charges are applicable, and you will not be entitled to a refund or alternative.
You'll receive a full refund if you cancel 48 hours or more before the tour departure date and time.
If you cancel inside this notice period, full charges will apply and no refunds will be issued.
To cancel your booking, email info@tartan-compass.tours as soon as possible. The effective date of cancellation will be the date we receive written confirmation from you.
View our terms and conditions for more info.
We will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. Your driver-guide will keep you up to date on the road, and we'll try to get in touch about any large changes prior to your departure.
Due to logistical reasons we're unable to allow pre-booking on our vehicles. All of our seats are comfortable, and our vehicles have excellent windows and sunroofs. You'll always get a good view!
We are unfortunately unable to carry children younger than 5 years old on our day tours. There are a few eco-tours we can recommend for younger children (age 5-10). If your child is less than 1m 35cm in height, please let us know, so we can arrange a booster seat.
On some tours we provide a snack box with pre-packed tasty bites. Each contains allergen information, and all snacks are suitable for vegetarians. During the tour, we will make a few stops where you can choose to purchase a more substantive meal to savour.
We'd be fibbin' if we said our guides would refuse a wee bonus. This is totally up to you, and we'd never suggest an amount.
Visitor attractions are not included in your tour because it creates flexibility, allowing you prioritise and personalise your day. This means when we stop you can either opt-in for a luxury lunch, go for a light stroll to stretch the legs, or immerse yourself in the main attraction.
There's so much to see and we want you to get the most from your Scottish day-out. This means getting plenty fresh air and discovering the places we visit. There are lots of opportunities to stretch the legs, explore historical locations, and grab that special photo.
